You are a Living Epistle of the Word of God

You are a Living Epistle of the Word of God

Today’s Scripture comes from Colossians 3 from the living Bible.

Starting in Verse 12.

Since you have been chosen by God who has given you this new kind of life, and because of his deep love and concern for you, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness to others. Don’t worry about making a good impression on them but be ready to suffer quetly and patiently.

Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Most of all, let love guide your life, for then the whole church will stay together in perfect harmony. Let the peace of heart which comes from Christ be always present in your hearts and lives, for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body. And always be thankful.

Remember what Christ taught and let his words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, and come with him into the presence of God the Father to give him thanks.

You wives, submit yourselves to you husbands, for that is what the Lord has planned for you. And you husbands must be loving and kind to your wives and not bitter against them, nor harsh.

You children must always obey your fathers and mothers, for that pleases the Lord. Fathers, don’t scold your children so much that they become discouraged and quit trying.

You slaves must always obey your earthly masters, not only trying to please them when they are watching you but all the time; obey them willingly because you want to please them. Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord and not merely for your masters, remembering that it is the Lord Christ who is going to pay you, giving you your full portion of all he owns. He is the one you are really working for. And if you don’t do your best for him, he will pay you in a way that you won’t like–for he has no special favorites who can get away with shirking.

How can Christ live in you?

One of the goals here in our faith is to become more Christlike. One of the ways to do this is to soak in the Word of God. In Colossians 3 vs.16 it says…Remember what Christ taught and let HIS WORDS enrich your lives and make you wise.

So we need to find our path, our thoughts resting in the word of GOD. Just reading them is not enough. I used the word SOAK above as this is a word I am very familiar with right now. IN Maine it has been rainy for almost 5 straight weeks in the middle of the summer. Just after July 4th weekend, it has been cloudy and rainy almost every day. The earth is SOAKED here in Maine. We have had soaking rains.

To read the word of God is just on the surface, it is like a passing shower, and quickly dries up shortly after the shower. But when you soak in the word of GOD, you meditate on it, you re-cite it, you get it into your heart and it becomes alive for you. Christ then lives in you!

If Christ lives in you then you have the Holy spirit living in you, and the Holy Spirit only prays according to the the will of God, and the will of God is all in the Word of God.

Press in and move closer to Christ likeness by diving into the Word of God daily and reaching out for the fullness of Christ within you.

The Choice to Make in the storms

» by sam in: Our Thoughts

Life certainly has its ups and downs and there is no question that storms will arise in your life. I know this from experience of facing many storms and the choices I have made in the mist of them.

Before coming to the Lord, I usually led with anger and self defeating thoughts about myself and my situation and usually looked to bloame the world or whomever was around me as well.

Needless to say, that didn’t work to well that is for sure.
