Knowing God Does Not Come From a Program or Study

In the book, experiencing God, right out of the gates in the introduction we find that Jesus came so that we would live life to the fullest and live it in abundance. John 10:10 says “The Theif’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give eternal life–abundantly.

Experiencing God comes through a devoted and daily seeking of a relationship with God and Knowing God and Knowing Jesus.

Here are a few things that must happen to set your foot upon solid ground and deepen your relationship with God.

  • God created us on the grounds of LOVE. God is Love and he desires to be loved by you and me.
  • We are all sinners and there is no way to “right the ship” on our own. We will not save ourselves.
  • You must believe without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus came and paid the ultimate price for you and I. He bore our sins on the cross and conquered death and walks in total victory NOW over sin and evil.
  • Recognize your sin and bring it to God and Confess them before the Lord.
  • Ask Jesus to save you. Openly recognize your willingness to make Jesus Your Lord and Savior. Tell a friend, tell the world
  • From here on out, it is God’s will, not yours to live by. Turn your life over to the will of God.

Your Personal Teacher and Guide is The Holy Spirit

Learning to be led by the spirit is and must be the desire of your heart. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. The Holy Spirit can keep you from falling. The Holy Spirit is our helper, our teacher, our guide as we walk out our faith here on earth.

Do you want to experience life to the fullest?

Then make the Word of God your foundation for all areas of your life. Turn to the scriptures when you have questions. Do not rely on your pastor, friends or your own experiences to lead you into truth. Our Rock is The Word of God.

Put the bible next to you and pick it up daily. IT is really impossible to walk life the way God has intended for you to walk, without pouring over and into the Word of God and putting the messages into your heart.

Steve Witt Comes to Maine!

Steve WittOur Church was blessed to have Steve Witt come and spend 2 full days with us. Steve Witt has spent 30 years as an investor of people, properties and destinies. He has served as an instructor for an international course in business training and initiated several churches in the U.s. and Canada. he has taught and equipped in over 25 nations.

He spent the 2 days ministering to us and teaching us about hearing God’s voice and responding. The church was filled to capacity and the Glory of God showed up in so many ways. The worship was overwhelming and I felt as if heaven met us here on earth doing this time. If this was a taste of heaven, I can NOT wait to see all that God has in store for us when we go to be with him. It was truely amazing and I was lost in Love with our Lord doing this time.

Steve was excellent, funny, engaging and he really reached us all. Steve teaches about Prophecy and the gift that God wants us to have.  1 Corinthians 14: 3-5 But one who prophesies, preaching the messages of God, is helping others grow in the Lord, encouraging and comforting them. So a person “speaking in tongues” helps himself grow spiritually, but one who prophesies, preaching messages from God, helps the entire church grow in holiness and happiness. I wish you all the gift of speaking in tongues, but even more, I wish you were all able to prophesy, preaching God’s messages, for that is a greater and more useful power than to speak in unknown languages–Unless, of course, you can tell everyone afterwards what you were saying, so that they can get some good out of it too.

Bringing encouragement to others, and speaking good things from God into peoples lives was the over-riding theme. How amazing it would be in this world if we all stepped up and spoke encouragement into one another…

Steve…Thank you for bringing a message of Hope to us…

Heart For Your Desire From Experiencing God

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Our Small group at our home has been studying and working through the workbook called Experiencing God by Henry T Blackaby. This workbook is a wonderful way to see how practical our God is and how you can put your Christian faith to action.

This morning I was working on one of the Units and came across a song in the workbook. Through this experience, there were several songs written for and through Experiencing God.

These words of the song are amazing and today I want to share them with you.

The song was written by Lowell Alexander, Gayla Boarders, Jeff Boarders, Dave Clark and Tony Wood.

The name of the song is Heart for Your Desire

Deep in my soul—There is a longing I feel–to look at my life in teh light of your will—Knowing your heart—Trusting your truth–Day after day—I’m walking with you

All my hopes–all my dreams–Help me forfiet everything—For whatever your kingdom requires—Guide my steps–Let me see the best you have for me–Give me a heart for your desire

Desire GodTeach me, Oh God In the Ways of Your word—Whisper through voices that I’ve seldom heard—Strengthen my faith—Weaken my will–Lead me to where your love is fulfilled

As I delight in You, oh Lord—Within me there’s a fire and I finding the desire of my heart—Is a heart for YOUR desire

I want a heart for your desire

Don’t Just Do Something. Stand There!

Say what ?Undecided

That is backwards from how we normally read or hear the saying…

The way we hear it is …Don't just stand there, do something!

Day 3 of Experiencing God Led me to the Map in the back of the book and re-iterated day 2's "awakening moment" for me, but Day 3 more has come through that GOD MUST COME FIRST in our lives if we are to Experience God.

This study came out of our church as a whole being led to "Wait on the Lord" … We are such a people of get up and Go Go Go…that we leave little time for God. The hustle and bustle of lives just seems to keep speeding up and the theme is I want it all and I want it now (an old Queen song popped into my head) … As our worldly desires increase, and technology increases it just seems to be pulling at us to keep us distracted and out of God's Path.

So, I see that I MUST put God First and over the last week I have really tried to put my own busy schedule, that could have me working 24/7 and still not get it all done, behind or AFTER my time with God. And I have spent less time working over the last week and more time thinking, praying, talking to God and studying his word.

Walk across the Bride to where God Is

It is kinda strange as I am a work aholic and I love my work, but it is SO easy to go days without focus being centered on GOD. Sure sunday rolls around and I go to church and "get my fill" as many of us do, but it just is NOT enough anymore.

I have wanted to use my cooking skills and volunteer for quite some time serving the poor and for some reason I have just not done it. Well, I have contacted the person in my church who heads up Mercy works and will move towards volunteering my time in this area.

Day 3 of Experiencing God is all about Serving….Being A Servant and What does that look like? What does it mean?

Find out where the Master is and that is where you need to be…Look for where God is working and throw yourself into the mix and be where God is…

In Day 3 the Scripture reference is based on Jeremiah 18 1:6…Pick up your Bible and have a read of that Scripture…

God is the Potter of our lives, he will shape and mold us on his time and his schedule if we let him…SO SLOW DOWN and Stand there…Wait upon the Lord..

I have been asking the Wrong Question

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Day 2 of Experiencing God Workbook Study was a big revelation for me…

I found out I have been asking the wrong question for a long time and it has really opened my eyes to a whole new walk with the Lord..

How many times have you asked or heard the question….What is God's Will For My Life?

I have thought, asked and talked about this many times, and I want to know God's will for my life, sincerely as I want to seek what God wants me to do…but it is NOT about what God can do for my life and Gods Will for my life. This was the Wrong question and Day 2 hit me like a ton of bricks..

The right question?

What is God's Will?

Revelation From God

It is not for God to come and meet me in my life and my plans, it is for me to seek and ask God's will and get into the river of HIS plan.

Read that sentence above again because if you are like me,  you will understand and see something that maybe you have overlooked or mis interpreted.

For me it is almost a complete 180 turn around from my way of thinking and praying.

God has broken through on just DAY 2. This has left me excited about the remaining 11 weeks as we go through this study called Experiencing God.

Experiencing God

By sam · Comments (0)
Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Over the last week our small group from our church has started a study called Experiencing God by Henry T Blackaby and Claude V. King. At first we were going to read the book and work through the work book but we quickly discovered they did not coincide together all that well….so we chose to use the workbook for our study.

My initial response was one of "O My, this looks like a lot of work, not more work!!"

Our response, based on feelings…

God's response…I have things for you to see and experience through this book.

In one week, i have had several things happen and eye-awakening moments as I have started to faithfully work my way through this workbook. I say workbook because it is broken into 12 units, and each unit has 5 chapters or days where you need to read and respond based upon what God put on your heart as you were reading it.

So far this has been VERY challenging and VERY exciting…

Our group meets tonight and I am now recapping the week and going back over what God has shown me this week…

Day one started off with a major bang and what stood out to me what how God asked Abraham to go, leave your family and your country, take your immediate family and GO….Go where? God did not even tell him, he just told Abraham to go!

What if God intervened in YOUR life, TODAY…and Said GO…Go to Africa and I will tell you more when you get there….

Abraham followed God One Day at a time…

Day 2 Next…
