The Living Bible Online Presents Isaiah 11

The Word of God for May 1st

Scripture verse of the day is Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Scripture reading of the day is Isaiah 1-9

The royal line of David will be cut off, chopped down like a tree; but from the stump will grow a shoot — yes, a new branch from the old root.  And  the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel and might; the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.  His delight will be obedience to the Lord.  He will not judge by appearance, false evidence, or hearsay, but will defend the poor and the exploited.  He will rule against the wicked who oppress them.  For he will be clothed with fairness and with truth.

In that day the Wolf and the lamb will lie down together, and the leopard and goats will be at peace.  Calves and fat cattle will be saved among lions, and a little child shall lead them all.

The cows will graze among bears; cubs and calves will lie down together, and lions will eat grass like the cows.

Babies  will crawl safely among poisonous snakes, and a little child who puts his hand in a nest of deadly adders will pull it out unharmed.

Nothing will hurt or destroyed in all my holy mountain, for as the waters filled the sea, so shall the earth be full of the knowledge of the Lord.

Sam’s Response.

In reading my daily devotion i started to read the scripture reading and I stopped after the first paragraph as I realized I had just read this yesterday. My wife, who is home with me stated that maybe smith Wigglesworth has more to say about this section of scripture.

So what is the significance about this scritpure that Smith Wigglesworth would spend 2 days on it?

Being meek is not something that is taught in the united states. Meekness is looked at here as a weakness. To be meek means you will be left behind.

Again we see how opposite the world is from the teachings of Jesus. The Bible almost always contradicts the Sounding Gongs of todays culture.

Meekness is not a weakness. It is being humble, not looking for the “Glory” or “Spotlight” for our own gain. When you are looking for recognition in this manner it will be difficult to recognize others around you.

Perfect love is a love that does not boast

if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Our willingness to not having the need to be noticed is a love that quietly works in the background for the good of God, not for the good of yourself.
