Hebrews 7 But Now We Have A Far Better Hope

By sam · Comments (0)
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

This Melchizedek was king of the city of Salem, and also a priest of the most high God. When Abraham was returning home after winning a great battle against many kings, Melchizedek met him and blessed him. Then Abraham took a tenth of all he had won in the battle and gave it to Melchizedek.

Melchizedek’s name means “Justice” so he is the King of Justice; and he is also the King of Peace because of the name of his city, Salem, which means “Peace”. Melchizedek had no father or mother and there is no record of any ancestors. He was never born and he never died but his life is like that of the Son of God—a priest for ever.

See then how great this Melchizedek is:

Even Abraham, the first and most honored of all God’s chosen people, gave Melchizedek a ten of the spoils he took from the kings he had been fighting. One could understand why Abraham would do this if Melchizedek had been a Jewish priest, for later on God’s people were required by law to give gifts to help their priests because the priests were their relatives, and yet Abraham paid him.

Melchizedek placed a blessing upon mighty Abraham—and as everyone knows, a person who has the power to bless is always greater than the person he blesses.

The Jewish priests, though mortal received tithes; but we are told that Melchizedek lives on.

One Might even say that Levi himself (the ancestor of all Jewish priests, of all who receive tithes), paid tithes to Melchizedek through Abraham. For although Levi wasn’t born yet, the seed from which he came was in Abraham when Abraham paid the tithes to Melchizedek,

If the Jewish priest and their laws had been able to save us, why did God need to send Christ as a priest with the rank of Melchizedek, instead of sending someone with the rank of Aaron—the same rank as all the other priests had?

When God sends a new kind of priest, his law must be changed to permit it. As we all know, Christ did not belong to the priest-tribe of Levi, but came from the tribe of Judah, which had not been chosen for priesthood; Moses had never given them that work. So we can plainly see that God’s method changed, for Christ, the new high priest who came with the rank of Melchizedek, did not become a priest by meeting the old requirement of belonging to the tribe of Levi, but on the basis of power flowing from a life that cannot end. And the psalmist points this out when he says of Christ, “you are a priest forever with the rank of Melchizedek.”

Yes, the old system of priest-hood based on family lines was cancelled because it didn’t work. It was weak and useless for saving people.

It never made anyone really right with God. But now we have a far better hope, for Christ makes us acceptable to God, and now we may draw near to him.

God took an oath that Christ would always be a priest, although he never said that of other priests. Only to Christ he said, “The Lord has sworn and will never change his mind: you are a priest forever, with the rank of Melchizedek.” Because of God’s oath, Christ can guarantee forever the success of this new and better arrangement.

Under the old arrangement there had to be many priests, so that when the older ones died off, the system could still be carried on by others who took their places.

But Jesus lives forever and continues to be a priest so that no one else is needed. He is able to save completely all who come to God through him. Since he will live forever, he will always be there to remind God that he has paid for their sins with his blood.

He is, therefore, exactly the kind of high priest we need; for he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin, undefiled by sinners and to him has been given the place of honor in heaven. He never needs the daily blood of animal sacrifices, as other priests did, to cover over first their own sins and then the sins of the people; for he finished all sacrifices once and for all, when he sacrificed himself on the cross. Under the old system, even the high priests where weak and sinful men who could not keep from going wrong, but later God appointed by his oath his Son who is perfect for ever.

Do You Tithe?

By sam · Comments (4)
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Money is a big deal in our daily lives and today we the econmic global crisis we are facing, it may be an easy opt-out to stop titheing.

So do you tithe?

0980890890 (4)Do you know what Title means? The word tithe means a tenth.

We are to give our local church 1/10 of our income.

God has asked us for this.

It is NOT a salvation issue as just by asking Christ into our hearts, we can rest assure that this aspect is taken care of.

But, there are multiple areas in the bible where we are asked to tithe 1/10th of our income.

This is a critical alignment to NOT miss. God says to test him in this and see what happens.

When you tithe, you are unleashing a force that is going to greatly impact your life. I know this to be true. I have seen it and witness it as well.

All that we have is FROM GOD. Our house, our cars, our money…you name it, it is a gift from God and HE OWNS IT ALL.

Do not miss an opportunity to step out in faith and do this step that God has asked you to do. He knew long before these money troubles that we would be going through them.

There is no suprises for God.

Tithe, and be faithful to what you do have and watch what happens. If you are hesitant, give it 90 days and report back as to what happened

I guarantee you will be blessed for God says it so. And God can not lie.

Gods Promises in Psalms 34 When You Reverence Him

He Answered Me
He Freed Me
He heard Me
He rescued me
I have everything I need
Never Lack Any Good Thing
He gives attention to me when I cry out
He saves me from trouble
The Lord is Close to me
He will redeem me
I will be pardoned for my sins

I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. I will boast of all his kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. Let us praise the Lord together and exalt his name

For I cried to him and he answered me! He freed me from all my fears. Others too were radiant at what he did for them. Theirs was no downcast look of rejection! This poor man cried to the Lord–and the Lord heard him and saved him out of his troubles. For the Angel of the Lord guards and recues all who reverence him.

Oh, put God to the test and see how kind he is! See for yourself the way his mercies shower down on all who trust in him. If you belong to the Lord, reverence him; for everyone who does this has everything he needs. Even strong young lions sometimnes go hungry, but those of us who reverence the Lord will never lack any good thing.

Sons and daughters, come and listen and let me teach you the importance of trusting and fearing the Lord. Do you want a long, good life? Then watch your tongue! keep your lips from lying. Turn from all known sin and spend your time in doing good. Try to live in peace with everyone; work hard at it.

For the eyes of the Lord are intently watching all who livfe good lives, he gives attention when they cry to him. But the Lord has make up his mind to wipe out even the memory of evil men from the earth. Yes, the Lord hears the good man when he calls to him for help, and saves him out of all his trobles.

The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking; he recues those who are humbly sorry for their sins. The Good man does not escape all troubles–he has them too. But the Lord helps him in each and every one. Not one of his bones are broken.

Calamity will surely overtake the wicked; heavy penalties are meted out to those who hate the good. But as for those who serve the Lord, he will redeem them; everyone who takes refuge in him will be freely pardoned.

Defining Reverence  Fear: a feeling of profound respect for someone or something; “the fear of God”;

God Always Comes Through When You Rest In Christ

By sam · Comments (0)
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

God always comes through when you rest in Christ.

Yesterday I had a call from my daughter and she went on to explain that she is feeling overwhelmed with work and also homesick. This is the first time she has been on her own and she is in the midst of a very demanding biblical training program.

Her life is so full almost daily that yesterday she just got to that point where we all get in life of just wanting everything to stop and slow down.

So she talked to myself and my wife for a while and by the end she felt better. She still had a busy evening ahead of her as she had to bo back to church to witness a baptism.

Late in the evening, I got a text from her. She sounded so excited.

God’s Glory was on display for her to see, and she soaked it up.

God produced a beautiful double rainbow that went from one horizon to the other. On one end it was so bright and majestic that it just blew my daughter away.

The Glory of God in a RainbowAll the stress of earlier in the day was gone and she was basking in the magnificence of our glorious God as he was what I like to call, showing off :)

It is amazing how God always comes through when we are weary and tired and it seems like we can not go on, God has a way of lifting us up and keeping us going. And sometimes it is something really simple that reminds us of the Glory of God and how wonderful he is. The refreshment of a rainbow was exactly what my daughter needed, and God showed up to lift her spirits.
